Search Rankings: The Basics

AMZShark's Search Rankings tool allows you to track any product on Amazon for any keywords/search queries you want. For example, you can track the Kindle Fire listing for the keyword “e reader tablet” or even for “pink bunny slippers.” But that would be silly…

Here are a few things you could be doing with the rank tracking tool:

  • Track your products – Track all of your products so that you know where your listing stands.
    • Inside don’t forget to expand your Graph View (as shown in the picture below) so that you can see your 7 and 30 day trailing average.
  • Track your competitor’s products – When you do this, go into their listing and grab as many obvious keywords as you can find and place them into the tool (by clicking Manage Keywords). Then you can compare across your product and their product for each of those keywords. Perhaps you could find something they’re ranking for which you’re not (but could be because now you know!)

And here is a How-To get started:

  1. Log in to your AMZShark account and click “Search Rankings” on the left-hand side toolbar.
  2. "Manage Products" lets you enter ASINs for all products you wish to track.
  3. "Manage Keywords" is where you list which search terms you're researching.
  4. You will see a blue icon that says “New Products.” Click it to see the latest products ranking for your selected keywords.
  5. Assign tags to certain searches to stay organized.
  6. Click "Show Rankings" to see a breakdown for each product.  You can also see a graph of its progress.

Hints:

  • We show you the average rating for this product, as well as how many reviews it has.
  • We also list the price, ranking (or “Position”) on search results, and which Page it displays on in search.
  • The date listed is when it was added to Amazon.
  • You can download a .CSV file of all new product by clicking the green “Download CSV” on the top right-hand corner.  Use this in Excel to create a detailed spreadsheet about your market.
  • "Rising Products" shows you a list of products that have drastically improved their ranks for the keywords you track. Specifically, we show the products that appeared on page one for the first time each day. This process is automatic, as long as you have keywords added to Search Rankings, it'll update daily.
